VORA VILLAS: a mini-hotel on the slopes of Santorini Island

Vora Villas by K-Studio
Santorini, Greece

Renovation of an old house on the volcanic slope of the Greek island of Santorini in Imerovigli. The old traditional building, located less than 1 km from the famous Skaros Rock, has been transformed into a modern mini-hotel that meets contemporary comfort requirements. Design and implementation by the architectural studio K-Studio from Athens.

The orientation of each of the three villas was designed with millimetre precision so that guests can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. The two-level rooms with swimming pools offer maximum privacy, which is important for a comfortable stay.

The presence of a volcano on the island determined the choice of traditional materials for the exterior and interior—from charred wood, volcanic rock, and blackened metal to arches, stone floors, and whitewashed walls carved into the rock. Traditional construction techniques help to successfully withstand the high temperatures of the Greek summer.
