This project transformed a home nestled in a serene, wooded area through a comprehensive remodel and significant addition. Inspired by the simplicity of Nordic modern farmhouses and the relaxed vibe of California-casual design, the exterior boasts a striking inky gray-black that blends seamlessly with its lush hillside surroundings.

This Nordic-inspired farmhouse was renovated by Ripple Design Studio in collaboration with Lisa Staton Design, located in Woodinville, Washington. Just a short 30-minute drive from downtown Seattle, Woodinville is known for its wine culture and small-town charm, Tucked into a woodsy setting, the scope of this project entailed a comprehensive renovation of the existing house and a substantial addition. The homeowner drew inspiration from Nordic modern farmhouses and the simplicity of California-casual design.
Inside, the design features a warm, textured palette of white oak, gray concrete, and handmade glazed tiles, creating a cohesive yet uniquely detailed atmosphere throughout the home. Special attention was given to selecting furnishings and fixtures, emphasizing handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from natural materials like linen, wool, stone, and ceramics, enhancing the home's connection to nature and artisanal quality.
Softened simplicity in the architectural details evoke a sense of calm throughout the entire home.
