Bold minimalism and a beautiful spatial solution for a home for a family whose members took an active part in the design of the home. Minimalist, comfortable, timeless and modern, Slot House is located in an extraordinary location in Los Altos Hills, California, which made modern history thanks to Steve Jobs - in 1976, the first 50 Apple I computers were assembled in his garage in Los Altos.

Through creative collaboration between the owner-husband who worked on the architecture, the wife who did the interiors and Feldman Architecture, a beautiful stylistic harmony was created: the clean, straight lines of the 6,167-square-foot contemporary structure complement the warm details of the interiors and comfortable personal space for the occupants.

The “slot” running through the two-level space inside the house provides vertical and horizontal connections, creates a conventional boundary between public and private spaces and allows natural light and blue skies into the interiors.

The centerpiece of the home is the large living room with 12-foot ceilings and 40-foot sliding glass doors that offer stunning views of the picturesque California hills. The open layout made it possible to combine the living room with the kitchen and dining room, with a smooth transition to the patio with a hot tub.

To maintain a sense of privacy in the house, the architects separated the lower level public space from the owners' private rooms. The second level features a home office, media center, cozy library and three bedrooms. The master bedroom, which opens out to a balcony and a green roof strewn with colorful succulents, offers stunning views of the hills.
