The Rooms of Rome. Design renovation of the Palazzo Rhinoceros

THE ROOMS OF ROME by JEAN NOUVEL

Renowned French Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel has realised the large-scale project The Rooms of Rome, conceived by Fondazione Alda Fendi - Esperimenti in Rome's Palazzo Rhinoceros on an area of 3,500 square metres. The architect has designed 24 suites, preserving the historical context of the 17th century palazzo. On the first three floors of the palazzo Jean Nouvel designed the residential apartments, The fifth and sixth floors are home to the Caviar Kaspia Roma restaurant and art gallery.

Located between the Roman Amphitheatre and the Great Fountain, Rooms of Rome is a 15-minute walk from the Colosseum and 10 minutes from Piazza Venezia. The Palazzo Rhinoceros offers magnificent panoramas of Rome's sights: the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Janus, the Church of San Giorgio in Velabro and the picturesque hills.

In the interior, the architect has used various modern contemporary techniques - raw concrete, brickwork, trompe l'oeil panels and steel in an entourage of historical unplastered surfaces. The suites are furnished with items and objects by iconic 20th century designers - tables and chairs by Vitra and Knoll, Up 5 (Donna) Gaetano Pesce armchair by B&B Italia, and others. The designer apartments have begun to combine the atmosphere of a historic building with modern amenities - from home control systems to a state-of-the-art kitchen with a coffee machine.
