Perched on a rocky knoll overlooking the vast expanse of Jervis Inlet, this off-grid retreat was created for a client seeking a quiet escape from the intensity of urban life and a demanding career. What began as a small, weathered cabin has gradually transformed into a self-sufficient sanctuary deeply connected to its coastal landscape.

Reached by a secluded logging road, the retreat feels immediately removed from daily routines. At its centre is the original cabin, carefully renovated and paired with a new addition that rearranges the existing spaces to provide dedicated kitchen, dining, living and bedroom. The design preserves the modest character of the existing structure while elevating comfort, functionality, and craft.

Designed to operate fully off-grid, the retreat is powered by a solar energy system, heated by a wood-burning fireplace, and supported by well water and a septic system. The result is a place where the comforts of home blend seamlessly with the rhythms of nature.

Inside, a dark, natural palette and finely detailed interiors create a calm, de-stimulating atmosphere suited to rest, reflection, and connection.

The well-designed deck space seamlessly becomes an extension of everyday living.
