Nouvelle Athènes district, 9th arrondissement of Paris, France
This home is an eclectic and skilfully composed symphony of colours, materials and textures. The unique approach of designers Kelli Wilde and Laurent Champeau harmoniously blends contemporary comfort with a modern take on classic French sophistication.
The designers retained the classic aesthetic of the original space, but altered the layout so that the interiors resemble a large loft, whilst also reflecting elements of a typical French home from a bygone era. The new layout has made it possible to create a more spacious living and dining area, with space for a double-hearth fireplace.
Kelli Wilde: “A home should be a place to live; not a cold space or an art gallery. It should be a well-designed, inviting and discretely luxurious place where one feels comfortable living and entertaining.”
Laurent Champeau: “The idea was to mix styles, like the contemporary fireplace that we designed, juxtaposed with an 18th-century cornice. This is peculiar to Parisian apartments; they can be historic yet modern.”
