Breuil-Cervinia, Aosta Valley, Italy
Chalet La Fenice is a luxurious and extraordinary ski chalet in the Italian Alps, above the picturesque village of Cervinia.
The stone villa with panoramic views of the Matterhorn, the Italian Alps to the south, and the Swiss Alps to the north was built in 1936. In 2015, the dilapidated building underwent major renovation under the leadership of Italian architect Mariapia Bettiol, who specializes in high-altitude luxury projects like chalets and hotels, got a new lease on life.
The 12,917 sq ft property spans six floors, accessible by a lift, and boasts seven en-suite bedrooms, some with private balconies that provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
The modern combination of Chalet La Fenice is complemented by a neoclassical touch. The committment family loves the notes of Italian Neoclassicism and wanted to recall them with decorations and elements inside their chalet.
Floor-to-ceiling windows and an epic stone fireplace invite you to settle into the spacious open-plan drawing and club room.
The traditional pine-clad interiors have been modernised with plush velvet furniture, thick fluffy throws, and contemporary artwork.
Standing proud on the slopes of the majestic Matterhorn, Chalet La Fenice boasts one of the most unique and enviable locations in the Italian Alps. Surrounded only by sloping, snow covered mountains, you’ll enjoy total seclusion and uninterrupted views – whilst being just five minutes from the centre of Cervinia resort.
Chalet La Fenice is unique, standing alone without anything around it. The intervention has been highly praised by the Cervinia community, as it resurrected an element that had been a part of the architectural identity of the area for almost half a century.
