An iconic 80s home built for two architects, now transformed into a warm and welcoming family residence. The original Californian vibe was preserved, while layers of depth and texture were added through every material choice.

The Belgian studio Æ Studio has renovated a house in Ghent, оriginally designed in 1981 by architects Jean Zerck & Claire Mulder. A calm, open atmosphere was created, and the building’s connection with the surrounding garden was improved. Enhanced natural lighting, a subtle colour palette of lime plaster, natural stone and dark wood, combined with handcrafted finishes, have made the interiors as warm and comfortable as possible.

Designed as a private sanctuary, this master suite features a clever dressing area that doubles as a room divider. The space is a study in contrasts, combining the warmth of elm wood with mirror doors, elm wood and a wool carpet for a truly luxurious retreat.
