The Limahuli Ocean Estate, surrounded by lush tropical scenery and bordering nature reserves, was purchased by Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder in 2011. The 8.3-acre site is situated on the oceanfront on the north coast of the island of Kauaʻi's North Shore in Hāʻena, Hawaii.

The main residential building — a single-storey structure measuring 3,123 square feet — was redesigned by Walker Warner Architects. This renovation was both comprehensive and sensitive, remaining true to local traditions: floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows framing the landscape, exposed beams, parquet flooring and bespoke furniture.

Thanks to its combination of lush rainforests, sheer cliffs and a rugged coastline, this remote area attracts not only lovers of exotic destinations and conservationists, but also a select group of influential property owners.

Ownership history:

• 2009: Julia Roberts and her husband, Dany Moder, purchased the estate for $10 million.

• 2020: The couple sold it for approximately $20 million.

• May 2025: The estate was put up for sale again for $29.5 million through Hawai’i Life (agent Neil Norman).

• February 2026: The estate was officially sold for $27.6 mill
