The interior design studio Tucker & Marks, whose work is characterised by timeless elegance and classic style, has created this Spanish-style dream home in Carmel Valley, California.  Mediterranean motifs from the 1920s and the use of only the finest finishing materials have made the interiors of this home cosy, elegant and as comfortable as possible.

A skilful blend of the new and the old gives the house a distinctive character, whilst the historical features lend it a sense of solidity and luxury.

Tucker & Marks: Keeping in mind the 1920’s Mediterranean vernacular of this newly-built hacienda, we used strong Spanish-style design elements – terracotta floors, hand-hewn beams, plaster walls , steel doors – and appropriate Moorish details to create the backdrop for the owners’ furnishings and collections. A mix of old and new gives any house character and adding elements of history immediately grounds a new house and gives it a sense of place.
