An extraordinary industrial-style loft apartment in the historic ‘Montgomery Ward Catalog House’ building, one of the finest examples of the Chicago School’s industrial style, which was originally a warehouse. Interior designer Aimee Wertepny has succeeded in creating a subtle balance between Scandinavian warmth and industrial aesthetics. The flat has also become a unique gallery space, housing a rich collection of works by contemporary artists.

PROjECT interiors: Step one for this 5,500-sq-foot industrial condo [a combined three units] in the old montgomery ward catalog house building: finesse that floor plan for smooth transitions + nabbing all the sightlines. step two: replace sharp corners with curves and tone down that outdated canvas.

PROjECT interiors: And because those epic skyline views were whispering sweet nothings, we came in all sneaky-like with an entertaining lounge for the ages [a snaking sofa, custom wall art, a raised fireplace + a conversation pit with all the plant babies — now she’s talkin’] + stole some space for a come-hither bar with a wispy wallcovering. a pair of wfh spaces were clutch here, too — one with a fresh, steel-and-glass partition; the other all hygge-chic.

PROjECT interiors: Scandinavian with selective moments of color and pattern via curated art — we got this.
