Ministudio Architetti has renovated an apartment within Castello Turcke, the iconic building at Capo Santa Chiara in Genoa. Castello Turcke, designed by Gino Coppedè in 1903, is a distinctive private villa in an eclectic style, whose architecture and décor feature numerous historical references to a medieval Florentine castle.

The multi-level flat has undergone a complete refurbishment, carried out in accordance with bespoke design solutions. The studio designed every element—from the furniture to the finishes. The interiors have been adorned with abstract artworks created specifically for this project.

The designers’ work has resulted in a harmonious living space that reinterprets the castle’s historical identity through a contemporary architectural language. The project strikes a successful balance between the building’s rich decorative materials and modern textures, creating a harmony between heritage and modernity.

The renovation project treads a fine line, blending classic and contemporary refined elegance, aiming to create an airy and comfortable space whilst seeking to highlight the castle’s history and character.

The castle overlooks the cliffs with spectacular sea views, creating a setting of identity and remarkable character.
